Chinese and English Proficiency Test

Master, PhD Degree New-comers:

This is an optional 3-credit course available for international master and PhD degree students students who want to learn or improve their Chinese.  If you would like to take “General Chinese Courses”, you have to attend “General Chinese Course Registration & Placement Test”. Bachelor Freshman international students:

Freshman international students DO NOT need to register for College Chinese or Freshman English via the online course selection system. You will be automatically registered after the Chinese and English Proficiency Test.

● Students who cannot attend the exams must apply to take the make-up test. You will be able to take“College Chinese” or “Freshman English",  which are credits required to graduate, only if you take the proficiency exams.

The deadline for International Students to apply for placement in “College Chinese: Enhanced Preparatory Courses for International Students” with TOCFL Certificate.

Application Form

The certificate and score report of TOCFL listening, reading and writing at Band B Level 3 or above are mandatory. All three documents are required.

August 31, Tue The deadline for applying English and Chinese Make-up Test.

Students who cannot take the Chinese and English Proficiency Test on September 14, 2021, have to apply for the make-up tests before August 31.

September 10, Fri

The deadline for applying to waive Freshman English with required English Proficiency Certificate. (If you are a native English speaker or from an English speaking country, you still have to provide English Proficiency Certificate to apply for the waiver.)

To apply, please submit a scanned copy of your test certificate or transcript with your application formto forex@ntu.edu.tw

10:00 am-  Announcement of Test Rooms and Test Schedule.

5:00 pm- Announcement of Class Placement Results of “College Chinese: Enhanced Preparatory Courses for International Students” for students who apply with TOCFL certificates.

→ Students on the list do not need to take the Chinese Proficiency Test on September 14, 2021. BUT students should bring the original copy of TOCFL certificate or transcript to the Department of Chinese Literature Office for verification before 5:00 p.m. on September 24th (Mon.), 2021. Otherwise the qualification for taking College Chinese will be annulled.

September 11, Sat

5:00 p.m.

Announcement of list of students qualified to waive Freshman English with required certificates.

BUT students should bring the original copy of their certificate or transcript to the DFLL Office for verification before 5:00 p.m. on October 4th (Mon.), 2021. Otherwise the qualification for waiving English will be annulled.
