Important Reminder for the Japanese Region
  1. Exchange students who have been selected and granted institutional nomination by the university must submit their exchange admission application to the host university in accordance with the language requirement under which they were admitted (JLPT, IELTS, or TOEFL iBT).
For example, students who obtained exchange eligibility based on JLPT results must apply to the host university’s regular exchange student program (i.e., courses taught in Japanese). Students who obtained exchange eligibility based on IELTS or TOEFL iBT results must apply to the host university’s English-taught exchange student program (usually English-taught courses offered by international or global studies faculties specifically for international students).
  2. Exchange students who have been selected and nominated by the university may not request changes to the admission conditions after receiving admission approval from the host university, nor may they request to reapply under a different set of conditions if their exchange application is rejected by the host university (including, but not limited to, changing from a Japanese-taught program to an English-taught program). Any such cases will result in immediate cancellation of exchange eligibility and will be subject to penalties and fines.
  3. If the host university offers two or more exchange student programs in different languages, the exchange quotas are calculated separately. Applications for exchange admission under different language requirements are also reviewed by different committees at the host university.
