Registration
Students must register as a full-time student at NTU and are liable for tuition fees at NTU while overseas. Students do not have to pay tuition fees to the host university, but remain liable for miscellaneous, accommodation, living, insurance, transportation and other personal fees.
Academic Information

The host institution reserves the right to deny admission if no suitable departments or courses are available.

- The Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is a French-language university. Most courses are taught in French.
- A definitive admission to an exchange program does not guarantee access to the courses chosen by the student. Some courses may require the successful completion of prerequisite courses, may not be offered during your stay or may be full. You may have to choose other courses before or upon your arrival at UQAM.
- All courses identified as ateliers (workshop), stages (interships), Jeu (Acting) concentration, or séminaires d’intégration (integration seminar) are not available for exchange students.
- The majority of courses offered at UQAM are worth 3 credits. A 3-credit course corresponds to 45 class hours over 15 weeks at a rate of 3 hours per week. Double the hours for study and personal work.
- All exchange students must be enrolled in a full-time course load. The number of credits (per semester) required to be considered a full-time student:
- Undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree or Certificate): 12 to 15 credits (4 or 5 three-credit courses)
- Graduate levels (Master’s degree, DESS, PhD): 6 to 9 credits (2 or 3 three-credit courses)
- UQAM'S School of Management is not open to university-wide exchange students.
- Students are NOT allowed to take-cross faculty courses, and must stick to their home university major(s).
- For Faculty of Political Science and Law
- Baccalauréat en droit
- Minimum cumulative average required for the entire university curriculum: 3.4/4.3.
- Be enrolled in a law study program (law-economics-management courses are not eligible, unless transcripts show that the equivalent of 24 to 30 credits of law courses (48 - 60 ECTS) have bee successfully completed.
- Baccalauréat en relations internationales et droit international (BRIDI)
- Minimum cumulative average required for the entire university curriculum: 3.3/4.3.

- For Faculty of Communication:
- Baccalauréat en communication (création médias - cinéma)
- The candidate must demonstrate a good knowledge of the theory and practice related to filmmaking in both documentary and fiction, as well as experience on set on at least two different film projects.
- First-year courses are not open to exchange students. In the second year, it is only possible to register for the winter term. Exchanges for a full year are only possible in the third year
- Maîtrise en communication
- At the graduate level, students can register for a maximum of 3 courses. No exceptions will be granted in the programs of the Faculty of Communication.

- The Jeu (Acting) concentration is not open to exchange students.
- The number of places is limited.
- Some courses are not accessible to exchange students.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a similar program at the home institution.
- Depending on concentration, an interview process and/or submission of portfolio may be required.
- Baccalauréat en art dramatique
- Estimated cost of living: Living expenses for students, depending on their lodging and lifestyle, is about $1,500 CAD monthly.
- Health Insurance: Exchange students at UQAM are obliged to be covered by a health insurance plan ($356 CAD per semester).
