Registration
Students must register as a full-time student at NTU and are liable for tuition fees at NTU while overseas. Students do not have to pay tuition fees to the host university, but remain liable for miscellaneous, accommodation, living, insurance, transportation and other personal fees.
Academic Information
- The language requirements listed are the minimum standards. Applicants are advised to look into specific departments and courses to ensure they meet all prerequisites and additional language criteria. The host institution reserves the right to deny admission if no suitable departments or courses are available.

- To maintain student visa status as an “Exchange Student” at the University of Tsukuba, it is required for you to take at least 8 periods (600 min.) of classes per week.
- Master's or PhD student are NOT allowed to take undergraduate courses/subjects/units.
- Exchange student is unable to choose Degree Program in Business Sciences / Law School Program / MBA Program in International Business. Also, the courses offered by these degree programs are unable to be taken. DDP student is unable to choose Master's program in Mathematics and Master's Program in Physics.
- Language Requirements:
- When submitting language proficiency test results, the attached JLPT certificate must be within the past two years of validity.
- If applicant would like to join college of Japanese language and Japanese culture, JLPT N2 level is required
- If applicant would like to join Master’s Program in Service Engineering, JLPT N1 level in required.
- Japanese Language Courses
- Life cost information:Around ¥80,000-¥100,000 per month, including cost of accommodation.
- Insurance information:All students need to join Japanese National Health insurance (costs around ¥23,000 per year) and in-campus accident insurance (Costs around ¥1,000 per year).
