Academic Calendar
- For each campus, please refer to the CSU Academic Calendar. The first semester of each year is selected as Fall Intake, and the second semester is selected as January Intake.
- All campuses operate on the semester system, except the San Luis Obispo campus, which operates on a quarter system. Three quarters are equal to two semesters or one academic year.
- Before making travel plans, verify the mandatory orientation date at your host CSU. We strongly advise that you do not make personal financial commitments, including but not limited to purchasing tickets/insurance or reserving accommodations, until you receive your DS-2019 for the visa application, confirm your consular appointment and are granted a student visa.
Registration
Students must register as a full-time student at NTU and are liable for tuition fees at NTU while overseas. Students do not have to pay tuition fees to the host university, but remain liable for miscellaneous, accommodation, living, insurance, transportation and other personal fees.
Application Process

Note: If you choose California State University as one of your preferred institutions for the internal selection of international exchange students, please be sure to carefully read the following notes as well as the information provided on the university’s website. Once you accept the offer and complete registration, it will be deemed that you have thoroughly read and agreed to all relevant regulations.
Academic Information
- The language requirements listed are the minimum standards. Applicants are advised to look into specific departments and courses to ensure they meet all prerequisites and additional language criteria. The host institution reserves the right to deny admission if no suitable departments or courses are available. Course requirements for each campus, Credit requirements
- US permanent resident (Green Card Holder) or US citizen by birth or after birth through parents or naturalization or have US dual citizenship status are NOT eligible for this exchange.
- In order to comply with the CSUIP application timeline, students who pass the internal selection process and are recommended for exchange to the host institution must prepare all required supporting documents as specified by the institution. Students may not delay submission or request an extension on the grounds of preparing for final examinations or other personal reasons. In such cases, the internal recommendation will be revoked immediately, and a fine will be imposed.

- Students who wish to apply for exchange at this institution must first carefully review the section CSU Subject/Course Information > CSU Campus and Course Selection Guidelines > Impacted (Closed) Subject Areas (Subject areas which are closed to exchange students) and independently assess whether they meet the institution's requirements.
- CSUIP is open for applications to 23 campuses (please also refer to the campus distribution map). Campus selection is not required during the internal selection process.
- After passing the internal selection process, the exchange admission application documents must still undergo CSUIP review and campus allocation. Only after receiving an official offer of admission from a specific campus will a student be considered an exchange student. It is recommended that students review the information on each campus on the host university's website (CSU Campuses at a Glance / CSU Campus Profiles) before selecting preferred campuses. Please note that some departments do not accept exchange students; students must check the websites of the campuses they wish to apply to on their own. NTU Study Abroad is not able to assist with inquiries regarding department availability.

- Minimum academic workload per semester: 12 CSU units per term
- During NTU's nomination process, students may list up to four preferred campuses. Once the host institution announces the campus allocation results, requests to change the assigned campus will not be accepted. The stated preferences are for CSUIP's reference only, and the host institution does not guarantee placement in any of the top four choices. If the assigned campus does not meet expectations, NTU Study Abroad is unable to negotiate with the host institution on the student's behalf. - Students who wish to forfeit their admission to this exchange program due to the assigned campus not meeting their expectations must proceed in accordance with the penalty provisions stipulated in the International Exchange Student Selection Guidelines.
- Due to personal data protection considerations, NTU Study Abroad is unable to provide sample application documents or advice on document preparation. If students have questions regarding preparation, they are advised to refer to experience-sharing accounts from senior students.
