  1. At least First-year Undergraduate student/At least First-year master’s student (excluding doctoral students). According to the year of study recorded in the Office of Academic Affairs system at the time of internal selection..
  2. GPA should be higher than 3.30.
  3. TOEFL iBT 79 (Do not accept Home Edition) or IELTS 6.0 or The General English Proficiency Test (High-Intermediate).

Registration
Students must register as a full-time student at NTU and are liable for tuition fees at NTU while overseas. Students do not have to pay tuition fees to the host university, but remain liable for miscellaneous, accommodation, living, insurance, transportation and other personal fees.
Academic Information

Applicants are advised to look into specific departments and courses to ensure they meet all prerequisites and additional language criteria. The host institution reserves the right to deny admission if no suitable departments or courses are available.

  4. Students have the option to study in German or English. The main language at TU Darmstadt is German. A growing number of courses is offered in English.
  5. We recommend exchange students (graduate & undergraduate) to take between 18 ECTS and 30 ECTS per semester.
Practical Information
  1. The monthly budget required by the German government for the visa or residence permit application of Euro 992 per month. A breakdown of costs can be found on our website.
  2. Exchange students studying at TU Darmstadt for one or two semesters and double degree students are required to purchase statutory German health insurance (Gesetzliche Krankenversicherung) in order to be able to register as a student at TU Darmstadt.   3. The orientation program "The Experience Weeks" or "X-weeks" for incoming exchange students start on the second or third working day in September (for the winter semester) and in March (for the summer semester). More information can be found on the website.
  4. Simultaneously with the X-Weeks, we offer a 4-week Intensive German language course for all incoming students. The courses are free of charge. Additionally, continuing German language courses are offered throughout the semester (also free of charge).
Accommodation Information
Accommodation is available, but cannot be guaranteed due to limited capacities. TU Darmstadt does not have its own dormitories but cooperates with other public providers in Darmstadt. Our colleagues from the Exchange Students Housing Assistance ESHA help incoming students find accommodation.

The typical accommodation we can offer is a single room (furnished with a bed, chair, table, and wardrobe) in a shared apartment in a student dorm. The rental period is six months (September to February, March to August) or five months (October to February, April to August). Monthly rent typically ranges between €400 and €600.
