- At least First-year Undergraduate student/At least First-year master’s student (excluding doctoral students). According to the year of study recorded in the Office of Academic Affairs system at the time of internal selection..
- TOEFL iBT 80 (Accept Home Edition) or IELTS 6.5 or The General English Proficiency Test (High-Intermediate). or
- German at least B2(High-Intermediate) level.
- Not available to students in the College of Management.

Registration
Students must register as a full-time student at NTU and are liable for tuition fees at NTU while overseas. Students do not have to pay tuition fees to the host university, but remain liable for miscellaneous, accommodation, living, insurance, transportation and other personal fees.
Academic Information
- The language requirements listed are the minimum standards. Applicants are advised to look into specific departments and courses to ensure they meet all prerequisites and additional language criteria. The host institution reserves the right to deny admission if no suitable departments or courses are available.
- This university specializes in humanities, social sciences, and information management, with courses primarily taught in German. Students whose major does not fully align with the university’s departments, as well as those with only English proficiency, must independently verify whether there are courses available for enrollment.
- Our School of Management has a separate college-level agreement with Mannheim University’s Business School; students cannot apply to the Business School through the university-level exchange program.

Practical Information
- Entry and Insurance
- We strongly recommend that all our exchange students from non-EU and non-EFTA countries purchase a German statutory health insurance. Students can buy German health insurance prior to their arrival in Mannheim. It costs about €135* per month (standard price for students by all health insurance providers). *Subject to change
- Cost of Living (please note that the cost for rent will be lower than suggested on this website because students usually live in the dorms or in a shared living arrangement)
- In order to cover the costs of student services, students enrolled at a German university – including exchange students – have to pay a semester fee. The fee currently amounts to €100 per semester. Kindly note that all exchange students need to pay this fee in order to be enrolled.

Students can apply for student residences or look for a room on the private market.
For exchange students from overseas, we offer a very limited number of places in our off - campus student residences: single bedrooms in shared flats vary from €390* – €480*, single apartments from €420* – €480*. There are furnished rooms (shared kitchen and bathroom) in several residences in different areas of Mannheim. More information here.
