Academic Calendar
Registration
Students must register as a full-time student at NTU and are liable for tuition fees at NTU while overseas. Students do not have to pay tuition fees to the host university, but remain liable for miscellaneous, accommodation, living, insurance, transportation and other personal fees.
Academic Information
  1. The language requirements listed are the minimum standards. Applicants are advised to look into specific departments and courses to ensure they meet all prerequisites and additional language criteria. The host institution reserves the right to deny admission if no suitable departments or courses are available.
  2. The university offers a limited number of English-taught courses. Students with only English proficiency must ensure that there are enough English-taught courses available for enrollment.

  4. The main language of instruction at FAU is German; in some fields English. The availability of English taught courses varies at every faculty, please check their websites for further information.
  5. NO access to human medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law and psychology. Also admission to certain lectures in practical sports is restricted.
  6. Certain programmes on Bachelors level at our Faculty of Sciences are in German.

Practical Information
  1. A preparatory German course will be held before the start of lectures. The course fee and its credits can be found online. During the semester period FAU language centre offers language courses in different languages on different levels.
  2. German health insurance is obligatory. Sufficient insurance cover is required for the enrolment at FAU and in order to receive the residence permit. Accident insurance and liability insurance is highly recommended. All insurances should cover the whole stay in Germany.
  3. Travel health insurance: non-EU citizens should have travel health insurance at least valid until the start of lectures. Please be aware that international travel insurances are not sufficient and will not be approved by FAU and German authorities.

Welcome Week
  1. Welcome week (obligatory): In order to help the students organise their studies and to deal with formalities, FAU offers welcome weeks for international students twice each semester, before the semester starts.
