  1. At least First-year Undergraduate student/At least First-year master’s student (excluding doctoral students). According to the year of study recorded in the Office of Academic Affairs system at the time of internal selection..
  2. GPA should be higher than 3.00.

Academic Calendar
Registration
Students must register as a full-time student at NTU and are liable for tuition fees at NTU while overseas. Students do not have to pay tuition fees to the host university, but remain liable for miscellaneous, accommodation, living, insurance, transportation and other personal fees.
Academic Information
  1. The language requirements listed are the minimum standards. Applicants are advised to look into specific departments and courses to ensure they meet all prerequisites and additional language criteria. The host institution reserves the right to deny admission if no suitable departments or courses are available.
  2. Main language of instruction is German, with some courses taught in English. For detailed information please see current course catalogue and search for English-taught classes or consult study advisors at the faculties.
  3. Freiburg Global Exchange students should have German language skills at least at level A1.

  5. Course catalogue: Available from July onwards (for those coming in October, winter semester) and from January onwards (for those coming in April, summer semester). For courses, course descriptions, contacts etc. please refer to the website and/or contact study advisors at the faculties.
  6. Areas of study NOT available to Global exchange students: Medicine, Dentistry, Psychology, University College Freiburg (UCF)
  7. Recommendation for exchange students: 24 ECTS points with no up nor down limit.
Practical Information

  2. During the semester a variety of tuition-waived German language courses and seminars (language levels A2-B2, up to 8 ECTS) are offered for Freiburg Global Exchange students through the Language Teaching Center (SLI).
  3. Health insurance: All students need proof of sufficient health insurance in order to be enrolled. A German public health insurance plan is mandatory for exchange students. These plans offer maximum coverage and cost approximately 108 EUR per month. The University of Freiburg will not cover any medical bills for students.
  4. We strongly recommend purchasing a liability insurance plan ("Haftpflichtversicherung"). This insurance covers everyday life risks, e.g. unintentionally injuring a pedestrian with your bike or breaking someone else's property. Liability insurance in Germany costs roughly 50 EUR per year.
  5. All University of Freiburg students must pay administrative fees (currently 161 EUR per semester) for student services offered by the Student Union, including the right to purchase the semester ticket (public transport). Freiburg Global Exchange students pay a reduced rate of currently 103 EUR.
Accommodation Information
All students must pay a 400 - 500 EUR deposit for dormitory housing which will be refunded at the end of their stay unless additional costs (f.e. damages etc) have occurred.
