Publish Date:2024-10-30 14:00:00

Dear International Students,

We hope this email finds you well. As Typhoon Kong-rey approaches, we want to ensure that all students are prepared for potential weather-related emergencies. Your safety is our utmost priority.

Please take the following precautions to stay safe during the typhoon:

  1. Stay Informed: Regularly check weather updates from reliable sources such as the Central Weather Bureau (https://www.cwa.gov.tw/V8/E/P/Typhoon/TY_NEWS.html) and follow any advisories or warnings issued.
  2. Emergency Supplies: Before the typhoon arrives, ensure you have an adequate supply of essential items, including water, non-perishable food, a flashlight, batteries, a first aid kit, and any necessary medications. Most businesses will close during a typhoon, but many convenience stores remain open. If you need essential supplies, please go only when the weather is calmer and safe.
  3. Secure Your Living Area: Secure windows and doors. Bring any outdoor items indoors to prevent them from becoming hazards.
  4. Charge Your Devices: Keep your mobile phone and other essential electronic devices fully charged in case of power outages.
  5. Stay Indoors and Avoid Coastal Areas and Mountains: Avoid going outside during typhoons. Stay in a safe location until authorities declare it safe to leave. Please do not go to coastal areas and mountains. Even 1-2 weeks after the typhoon, it is advised to avoid these areas to prevent risks from landslides, road damage, or coastal erosion.
  6. Follow Instructions: Adhere to any instructions or guidelines provided by local authorities or officials.
  7. Work and Class Cancellation Information: Once the government announces work and class cancellations due to the typhoon, all government offices and school administrative units will cease operations.

Please stay updated through the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration: https://www.dgpa.gov.tw/typh/daily/ndse.html.

  1. Emergency contact: In case of an emergency on campus during the typhoon, please contact the NTU Emergency Operation Center at 3366-9110.
