Libraries

The University Library System comprises 6 major branch libraries, including the Main Library, Social Sciences Library, Law Library, Medical Library, the Gallery of NTU History, and the Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Resource Center. With 2.4 million volumes, NTU's Main Library is the largest university library in Taiwan. It has a large multimedia center and 24-hour self-study room, providing the perfect place for students to prepare for class or do research. In addition to libraries located on the Main Campus, the Medical Library located on the Downtown Campus is also open to all students. Some departments such as the Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics, and Department of Chemistry have their own branch libraries.

Sports Facilities

NTU provides a variety of sports facilities, including a track and field and outdoor Olympic swimming pool, as well as courts and sports grounds for basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, tennis, baseball, softball, handball, etc. NTU students can borrow basketballs, volleyballs, badminton racquets and birdies, and other sports equipment.

The NTU campus also holds a large sports center which provides a large number of high-end indoor sports facilities, including a weight training room, badminton courts, table tennis courts, dance rooms, martial arts rooms and basketball courts, and a heated swimming pool.

In addition to student sports clubs, NTU also has school teams for most popular sports that international students are more than welcome to join.

Digital Resources

Digital learning resources

An increasing number of NTU's high-quality courses and lectures are accessible online — for both NTU students and non-students. NTU's academic content can be found on the following platforms:

NTU Speech

NTU Speech is an archive and live-streaming platform for speeches held at NTU. It currently holds more than 2,500 speeches, including speeches by Nobel laureates.

NTU OpenCourseWare

NTU OpenCourseWare is NTU's homegrown platform for online courses and lectures with over 200 courses are available online. As a university that considers open access to education important, NTU is a member of the Open Education Consortium.

NTU @ Coursera

NTU is the only university in Taiwan to be invited to join the online learning platform Coursera. Over 50 courses are currently offered, and over 24,000 students have completed courses with over 4,000 students having purchased certificates of completion.

Distance learning

NTU distance learning allows students to attend synchronous classes with students from prestigeous universities from around the world. The Computer and Information Networking Center has a special-purpose classroom equipped with large screen, projectors, TV sets, camcorders and control booth. Past distance learning courses can be found on the NTU OpenCourseWare website.

Computing and printing services

The Computer and Information Networking Center provides 24-hour computer rooms that can be accessed using your student ID. All libraries are furthermore equipped with computers for browsing the library catalogue and printing. Copying and scanning machines can be found in all libraries, and there are several printing shops located on campus.

NTU account, webmail, cloud storage and software

NTU students can use their student accounts to access their e-mail account and cloud storage space. All important school announcements and academic information will be sent to this account, and NTU student accounts are used for course registration and other administrative procedures. An NTU account furthermore allows you to download professional software for personal use.

NTU wireless internet services

Students of NTU can access the NTU campus wireless network. For students who are not on campus, the NTU network can be accessed through a virtual private network (VPN) in order to make use of NTU's digital resources. Additionally, NTU students can use their student account to log on to the eduroam network, allowing them to access wireless internet at educational institutions all over the globe.

Health and Counseling Services

NTU offers a variety of health and counseling services to students to help with any assistance they may require during their life and studies in Taiwan.

Health Center

NTU has an on-campus Health Center that — on top of Taiwan's affordable universal health care — provides discounts to NTU students for health-related services. In addition to providing diagnostic services by experienced family medicine (general practice) doctors, the Health Center also houses experts from other fields of medicine to provide high-quality first-line medical services. The Health Center further more employs pharmacists, radiologists, nutrionists, and physical therapists.

Career Center

The Career Center provides NTU students and alumni with information and services for career planning and employment with the purpose of enhancing employment capabilities, improving adaptability and increasing competitiveness. Services provided include professional consulting and counseling, assistance for students to broaden their studies in order to strengthen employment skills, collecting data to improve career development services, and promoting the NTU Internship Program to encourage students to take internships and prepare for employment.

Student Counseling Center

The NTU Student Counseling Centers helps students with any adjustment problems they may encounter and works to promote students' mental health and psychological well-being. The center employs professional psychologists and social workers. Counseling is available in both Chinese and English. The center also holds the Office of Disability Support Services to provide support for students with disabilities.
