Registration
Students must register as a full-time student at NTU and are liable for tuition fees at NTU while overseas. Students do not have to pay tuition fees to the host university, but remain liable for miscellaneous, accommodation, living, insurance, transportation and other personal fees.
Academic Information
- The language requirements listed are the minimum standards. Applicants are advised to look into specific departments and courses to ensure they meet all prerequisites and additional language criteria. The host institution reserves the right to deny admission if no suitable departments or courses are available.

- Minimum academic workload per semester: Depending on home institution's requirements. A normal ECTS load is 30/semester.
Practical Information
- German beginner class offered every semester. Additonal courses can be organized according to demand. A 3-week intensive German refresher course (B2/C1) is offered, which takes place before the start of the fall semester. Cost: CHF 700.
- Appropriate expenses per month in CHF: Accommodation: 550 – 700, food: 400, public transport: 70, books: 60, health insurance (can be waived): 80; entertainment: 150
Total per month: 1300 – 1500 - Students must have health insurance which is valid in Switzerland.
Non-EU Students: Proof of health insurance valid in Switzerland. Health insurance provider in home country signs an exemption form together with a copy of the insurance policy in English, both documents will be evaluated by the local authorities in Switzerland. If the documents are not accepted by the local authorities, students are obliged to sign up for a Swiss health insurance (approx. CHF 90.00/month – e.g. Foreign student health insurance Switzerland | Swisscare).- Please note: The insurance policy has to explicitly and clearly state that the coverage is unlimited. Otherwise it won't be accepted in Switzerland.
- A residence permit must be obtained after entering Switzerland. The costs for the visa and the residence permit are paid for by the student.
Accommodation Information
Campus Rapperswil: The student hall of residence is conveniently located, just a five-minute bus ride from campus. Shared apartment of 3 or 6 rooms with exchange students. Current cost is CHF 680 per month. Application is submitted together with the student exchange application.
Campus Buchs: No on-campus accommodation. Rooms in shared flats and private accommodation in or near Buchs, approx. CHF 400 - CHF 700 monthly.
Campus St.Gallen: No on-campus accommodation. Rooms in shared flats and studios with other exchange students, CHF 550 - CHF 700 monthly. Application deadlines: 15 May/15 October.
