The McCall MacBain Scholarships enable students to pursue a fully funded master’s degree at McGill University in Canada while connecting with mentors and participating in a leadership program.

Founded in 1821, McGill University is one of Canada's best-known institutions of higher learning and one of the top 30 universities in the world (QS World University Rankings, 2024). It is located in Montreal, one of the top student cities worldwide.

The McCall MacBain Scholarship covers:

  • Tuition and fees for 150+ eligible master’s programs at McGill University
  • A living stipend of $2,000 per month during academic terms
  • Mentors, coaching, and a leadership program
  •  A relocation grant and summer funding options

Scholarships and Awards Available

  • Up to 10 McCall MacBain Scholarships (see above)
  • Up to 25 Finalist Awards ($20,000 each)
  • Up to 15 Regional Awards ($10,000 each, tenable at any public university in Canada)

Selection Criteria
Character, community engagement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic strength, and intellectual curiosity.

Timeline
The 2024 application is for students interested in starting a degree at McGill in September 2025.

  • June 1 to August 21, 2024: Scholarship application period
  • September 2024: McGill University graduate applications open*
  • October 2024: Online interviews for top candidates in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania
  • March 2025: In-person final interviews in Montreal, Canada for top candidates worldwide (funded travel)
  • September 2025: Begin degree at McGill University
     *Dates may vary based on the intended McGill program.

Speaker: Visiting from Canada, Julia Lo is the Director of Marketing, Communications and Recruitment for the McCall MacBain Scholarships. She oversees the scholarship application process, working with participating universities and other stakeholders to support candidates. She has more than a decade of experience working with Canadian scholarships and youth leadership programs.
