Mini-EMI Course Overview
Mini-EMI courses should be a condensed version of an existing EMI course or develop a new course based on an introductory version of a compulsory departmental course
Subsidy Recipient
1. Full-time and project-based faculty members
2. Faculty members who are required to teach in English as a condition of their appointment are not eligible for this subsidy, except under special circumstances with a project-based application
Course Structure
1. Course Credit: Undergraduate-level courses, each worth one credit and requiring one hour of weekly instruction
2.Enrollment Requirement: Each course must have at least 25 undergraduate students enrolled
3. Course Composition:
1) Co-taught by three or more faculty members from the same college
2) Co-taught by two or more instructors from the same college, together with one instructor specialized in English-related fields (including English teaching, applied linguistics, linguistics, literature, or education), jointly teach the course
4. Teaching Method: Courses should adopt interactive teaching methods, problem-based learning, or other approaches that encourage students to engage in English discussions during class
5. Course Quota: Each college may apply for subsidies for a maximum of three mini-EMI courses per semester, with the general principle of no more than one course per department
6. Each instructor may apply for the subsidy for only one course per semester, with priority given to new courses and first-time applicants
Application Process
Applications should be submitted according to the timelines and procedures announced annually by the university’s Office of International Affairs
Subsidy Amounts
1.Each course will receive a subsidy of NT$15,000 per semester
2.The subsidy will be disbursed after the end of the semester. If the approved course is canceled or the enrollment falls below 25 students, the subsidy will not be granted
